Zhangye City, Gansu Province 甘肃省,张掖市

A typical Chinese sleeper train. After Xi'an 西安, I was trying to run away from the smog as fast as possible but it seemed wherever I went, it followed.
From Xi'an I arrived in a large, smoggy city called Lanzhou 兰州市 in Gansu province 甘肃省. After a night there, I quickly caught the next train to Jiayuguan Fort 嘉峪关城. This, for all intents and purposes, began the Silk Road westwards from "Han China".

I only stayed in Zhangye for about three hours. It is a really small "city" but home to a massive sleeping Buddha statue 佛像. It was totally cool and no one was there. Very pretty, with the intoxicating scent of burning incense and a soft snowfall.
