Xi'an

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

Xi'an City 西安市, Shaanxi Province 陕西省

The Silk Road trip had a few objectives. Among them was to see some of the obvious tourist destinations. After I checked off the Great Wall (loved it), next on the list was the Terracotta Warriors 兵马俑 in the city of Xi'an.

An awesome Muslim night market with fantastic food.

I don't use a professional camera. All the photos you have seen have been taken with a "snap and shoot" pocket camera without photoshop. It becomes obvious from these photos that the camera doesn't have great zoom.

These figures were buried about 209-210 BCE to accompany and protect Qin Shi Huang 秦始皇 (First Emperor of Qin) in the afterlife. There are over 8,000 soldiers to go with 520 horses and 130 chariots, all which are accurate to their military ranking. The pit was discovered in 1974 by farmers.

It was cool to see but you only need a day in Xi'an. The city and surrounding area was encompassed by smog. Time to keep moving.
