Qingshuihe Campus

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

Qingshuihe Campus, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, 清水河校区, 电子科技大学, 成都市,四川省.

This "second stint" in China came together when I was offered a teaching position at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). Here, I taught Logic & Critical Thinking courses for graduate students (mostly engineering and computer science). Twice a week, I'd jump on the staff bus and head out to the beautiful new Qingshuihe campus and lecture all day. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with China's next generation of difference-makers. UESTC is ranked top-5 in China in electrical engineering and computer science and there is little doubt most of those students are making more money than I am right now. They've earned it.

This is a mid-year dinner with my colleagues. The gentleman on the right was my supervisor, Daniel, and the guy on the left is Akes, a South African I had the pleasure of collaborating with. Ha I'd never worked with a team like this. 90% good food, alcohol, and cigarettes, 10% work (just kidding). I miss these guys.

During my second year at UESTC, I did additional work using the Foreign Language department's Oral Workshop curriculum. In this building, I helped students with their spoken English, pronunciation, and lexicon.
