Portland, Oregon

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

Awesome! After a long flight from China (which included a truly bleak overnight layover in the Las Vegas airport), my flight route included a Crater Lake flyby. An awesome way to start a new chapter.

Instinctively, I head to the Bowgren Estate and hang out with the fam for a bit. Mrs. B on the left and Molly on the right.

Not the best shot of Portland, but if you haven't been here, it is worth a visit. If a thriving, culturally diverse metropolis got freaky with a warm, welcoming, and weird little town, Portland would be the result. The following photos I snapped while spending most my time in SE Portland with Paul. This photo is the view from the SE looking across the Willamette river into downtown.

Chengdu was one of the first handful of cities to introduce a bike-sharing system. I was living there when the first prototypes popped up. They were yellow and there were literally tens of thousands of them.

In Portland, I found one 'station' with about six bikes, all made by Nike. Paying was convoluted and the bicycle weighed a ton. One day, Portland will figure it out, but for now, good try.

Good to be back, Portland!
