Four Corners with Ben

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

Having finished my solo trip and Ben finishing his admin stuff, we jumped in the 4runner and took off to some places he had his eye on. But first, a walk around Ben's property. The Sangre de Cristo mountains in the background set a stage for Ben moving into my old stomping grounds.

After a brief stop in the San Luis valley, we went further south. Wild ass greet us.

Back at Petrified Forest NP. We spent a night and backpacked into the wilderness.

This was one of those weird situations that made me think about how it is possible for someone to own parts of Earth. What a bizarre social system. I had to pay someone to look at this.

And now you know the difference between an asteroid and comet. You learned something new today! (See, I'd pay someone to go inside a museum, but to actually look at the crater? Silly).

Ruins in Navajo country.

Heading west, Ben and I shot into northern Arizona where we camped and surveyed the area for artifacts.

I slept outside those nights and Ben slept with his tent door open. This guy chomped on us both, leaving fang marks on the back tendon of both of our ankles. Itched liked crazy for a few days and the spider gave Ben quite a jump when he found it.

And back to Colorado.

It's funny, it doesn't matter where I go and for how long, I always love driving back into Colorado. The air smells fresh and the mountains are inviting. I love it.
