Shennu Mountain 神女山 is just south of Kawa Karpo 卡瓦胳膊峰 (a few pictures later). The mountain is 6,054 m (19,862 ft) and is considered the female counterpart of Kawa Karpo.
Mingyong Glacier 明永冰 jets down 12 kilometers from close to the peak. It is nature's most destructive, erosive force, and is a glacier Ben and I will probably hike someday.

I got up far earlier than I needed to and watched the jet-black sky slowly illuminate. I recall sitting on a frozen hill looking at the stars, barely making out the silhouette of the mountains. A herd of goats almost ran me over and scared me half to death.

Kawa Karpo 梅里雪山 stands at a majestic 6,740 meters (22,112 ft). I couldn't make the hike to the foothills on this trip. The forecast called for a storm coming in within a day or two and I didn't want to get stranded, so I left with a friend back down to Shangri-la the next day. Seeing this mountain was worth every minute of commute.
