Coronavirus Trip

Updated: Dec 24, 2020

Ben and I had a week off for spring break this year and were planning a trip down south, but COVID threw a wrench in our plans. Originally we were going to spend about 4 days backpacking into various sections of the Grand Gulch primitive area, then head down south to Arizona. Unfortunately, my decade-old backpack started weighing me down and straining my recently reinforced neck, forcing me to bail. We were in a great area, but it was March and still cold. We decided to stay around and explore the ruins.

But no trip can really start without stopping by the land first.

And off to Utah where we find.... strange settlements carved into rock enclosures.

Makes one wonder about the kind of living going on out there.

Ben finding what he's looking for.

From the Ranger station, we found a killer camp spot looking north at the Abajo Mountains.

The bummer was that this could've been an awesome trip, but I turned into a total ass. I didn't want to do anything. The weather wrecked havoc on my neck and I either complained or shut down. My apologies to Ben for finding a way to effectively ruin the exploration.

Regardless, we did see some really great ruins, artifacts, and rock art.
