Summer 2025 was one for the ages. It never slowed down and I got hitched. What a world.

My next stop is in Maputo, Mozambique. Maputo is a coastal city and serves as the capitol. We look out across the Indian ocean and the deceptively massive country borders Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. The Portuguese-speaking people are kind and friendly, while moving at their own slow and relaxed pace.

This current contract has me teaching Psychology and Individuals & Societies (humanities, basically) at the American International School of Mozambique. The people are awesome. Sol and I are living in a house ten minutes from the school and three minutes from the water. We wake up to the sound of birds chirping every morning. I love it.

Kruger

It feels like I’ve been in Mozambique for a long time. Maybe it has something to do with being so far away from the U.S., I’m not entirely sure. But after nine weeks of acclimating to a new job, setting up a new home, and learning a new city, I was ready to venture out of Maputo and see some big animals.
